The site is most impressive when viewed on an Etch-a-Sketch at 10 - 20 resolutions, (always shaken, never stirred). That's because if you're viewing this site on an Etch-a-Sketch, you'd be far too astounded to notice any of the little html problems that are causing it to render so hideously in whatever browser you're using right now. What can I say? Bear with me. I don't know what the heck I'm doing but I'm learning new things everyday. Obviously, the site is not optimized in the least. Let's just say that if Mr. Maguire were actually paying me to do this, I'd fire myself.

WHAT MAKES MMC DIFFERENT FROM OTHER FAN SITES?

Adoration for the subject comes standard with most fan operated websites and there's no shortage of affection for Mr. Maguire here at MMC.  Drop by the MMC forums and you'll find fans from all over the globe and all walks of life, from the newbie fan who fell wistfully in love with Peter Parker to those who were there when the name "Tobey Maguire" invoked a "Tobey Mc-Who?".    Unquestionably, several fans you find at MMC have been and will remain a fan of Maguire for the long, long haul.  We remember the great actor he was prior to Spider-Man defining his Hollywood existence and we look eagerly and longingly forward to seeing him return to the type of gritty, compelling films that defined his career before he morphed into the headlining face of a blockbuster franchise. 

Like most fansites devoted to honoring a celebrated person, you'll find lots of great coverage on Tobey Maguire here at MMC, including a wealth of information, pictures, articles, interviews, discussion about his films and performances, public appearances, and professional career.

So what makes this site different from the majority of celebrity fan sites?   To sum it up in a word:  Respect.   Respect for not only the career of Tobey Maguire, but also (and most importantly) for his life, his family and friends, his privacy and his dignity.  I believe that he should be allowed to spend precious private time with his loved ones away from prying eyes when he is not doing his job.  I believe that, like anybody else, he and his family deserve the same courtesy and personal space that anyone else would expect, receive and enjoy, irrespective of their profession.   Though some respectable writers may chose to cheapen themselves by mentioning tabloid fodder in their otherwise newsworthy articles on Tobey, you will not find this site littered with regurgitations of celebrity gossip (i.e. garbage), speculations about who he's been romantically involved with, or any other such trivialities that are nobody's business.  Likewise, you absolutely will NOT find a single paparazzi based photograph in our galleries  - no snapshots of Tobey on vacation with family, none of him walking down the street, taking a bite, etc. on his personal time.  MisterMaguire.com is a paparazzi free zone and forever-more shall be.   At MMC, Tobey Maguire's privacy will never EVER be compromised for the sake of site popularity.   


WHY TOBEY MAGUIRE?

Of all the fish in the glittering sea of Hollywood, why Tobey Maguire? Upon thoughtful consideration of every subtle lift of the brows, every expertly timed flutter of the lids closing down over that pair of breathtaking blue eyes, every nuanced gesture, every distinct crack of the voice at just the opportune moment, downloading every human emotion one could ever absorb in the passing of mere seconds……my cinematic-loving heart was surrendered against my considerable will.  Well sure, Maguire’s skilled acting and captivating screen presence was more than enough to lure me to the local cineplex opening day.  But what , you may ask, would make an otherwise rational, non-delusional adult woman with a full life, loving husband of umteen years, two wonderful kids and demanding career decide to create an expansive website as a monument to the career of a person she has never and probably will never meet (bites back feelings of ridiculousness)?.......well that took more than box office boffo.    Truth be told, it was learning a thing or two about the real man behind the mask, the man behind the onscreen persona, with his humble personal history and down-to-earth daily demeanor -  that calm, cool, cautiously collected unassuming real life dude --  it was THAT guy together with his emotionally robust portrayals that hooked me and reeled in my devoted fanship. I am a fan of Maguire's work, but an even bigger fan of his life, at least what he he wants me to know of it.  Few people I know would find themselves to have much in common with a movie star, yet I have found a great deal of inspiration in learning about a guy who's not so unlike myself in more ways than I can count.  I personally relate to his childhood struggles as well as his interests and philosophies (those he's revealed anyway).  I've studiously taken note of (and applied to my own life) his continuous, unfailing commitment to leading a balanced life anchored by the priorities of family and friendship.    I appreciate the way he has elevated himself above circumstances to become a successful, confident individual who makes every choice as though the fate of mankind depends on it.  I admire him for not only his confidence, but also his humility. I am awed by his strength and discipline in making necessary changes in his life not only to serve his ambitions but also to help make himself a better person. I admire the thoughtful way he conducts himself and the grace with which he has handled his fame and success.   I'm especially wowed at how he hasn’t let all the hoopla change the core of who he is or change his personal principals.   You know, everybody says, "if I ever get rich, I'm still gonna be the same.  I won't change."  And you just know they're feeding you the verbal equivalent of cow manure?  Well, it's refreshing to know that somebody brings meaning and true sentiment to those lines.  But then again, Tobey Maguire makes a living out of bringing meaning to lines.   Go figure.

As always thanks to you, Mr. Tobey Maguire.  Your excellent character portrayals have both occupied and nourished my thoughts.  The example of your life has given me hope as I aspire to a better hand than I was originally dealt starting out in this crazy game of life.   Thanks for all the patience I have unwittingly learned while waiting for your next damn movie to come out.  LOL!  Thanks for generally making these agonizingly ridiculous waits entirely worth it.  ;)  But seriously, truly and sincerely thank you for showing me what possibilities might come if I commit myself to it and simply have the courage to shed the fears and doubts that hold me down.   Thanks for the extended demonstration of how to stay true to self and never waver on my convictions.  Thanks for those precious times when you've shared with the public at large those little glimpses into your soul so that I and others like me might draw warmth from the fabric of your life.  Whenever you're talking, I'm all ears, intently listening, hoping to soak up whatever secrets you'll share as to the source of your impervious self-confidence and that inner peace you seem to self-manufacture with ease.   Thanks for being father first, just plain old Tobey Maguire second, and movie star somewhere in the distant after.     You do have great power, but yet you continue to act responsibly. You are truly....amazing.  

My world is a much better place with you in it and my life, more rich because you touched it.
